BERNE — Donald J. Dewey Sr. of Berne, a devoted husband and proud grandfather, died on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025. He was 81.

“My husband, the love of my life and my best friend for 60 years, passed peacefully surrounded by family,” his wife wrote in a tribute.

“A devoted husband to his wife, Rose, and father to Donald, Dawn (Garlock), and John, and a proud grandfather of Halley, Johnathan, Rebecca, Evan (Garlock), and Liam,” the tribute said, “he was the steady heart of our home.

“His quiet strength, gentle humor, and deep love shaped our lives in ways that words can never fully express. He gave us everything, and we will carry his love with us always.”
