Help the Guilderland Food Pantry ‘Drive Out Hunger’

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Food Pantry has been assisting the food insecure locally since 1979. Serving over 120 families, 25 seniors, and 85 children every month, the food pantry helps fill the gap when a job disappears or benefits run out. Last year’s total of 12,000 pounds of donated food provided the equivalent of 20,000 meals.

To meet the need, the food pantry is hosting its inaugural golf tournament to benefit its clients. The food pantry is seeking sponsors as well as residents to register to play.

The tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Western Turnpike Golf Course with an 8 a.m. registration, and a 9 a.m. start.

A donation of $125 per person includes lunch, and dinner by Malozzi’s as well as a T-shirt.

Prizes include $1,000 for a hole in one as well as prizes for Best Foursome, Long Drive, Closest to the Pin, and Putting Contest. There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
