$45K state grant puts playground funds tantalizingly close to $200K goal

To the Editor:

The Friends of the Voorheesville Playground is pleased to announce that State Senator George Amedore has secured for the Voorheesville Central School district a New York State “bullet aid” grant for $45,000 with the expressed intent of supporting the new elementary school playground.

With this grant and the overwhelming support from the community, we have raised over $170,000 for the new playground and are tantalizingly close to our goal of $200,000!  Thanks to our tireless volunteers and all of your generous donations, a new playground for the elementary school is on track for spring 2018.

The progress we’ve made is exciting and very humbling but we’re not there yet. Please watch for our fall fundraisers that will put us over the top and make the new playground a reality.

Remember, just like the original landmark playground built in 1991, the new playground will be community built. As we get closer to construction in the spring of 2018, look for announcements regarding opportunities to be a part of the build team.

Thank you all for your continued support and special thanks to Senator Amedore for his efforts in the State Senate.

Let’s build a playground!
