A new play and a Shakespearean classic at free Summer Festival
NEW SCOTLAND — William Shakespeare’s “All’s Well That Ends Well” and an original play about the Wright Brothers highlight the 15th annual Classic Theater Guild Summer Festival at Indian Ladder Farms.
Seana Munson makes her directing debut with the Shakespearean play. She’s been on the stage many times and has a bachelor of arts degree in modern languages and in theater from St. Michael's College in Vermont.
Julia Jaster, a 20-year-old theater arts student at Schenectady County Community College, is directing her third Summer Festival play — one she wrote herself. “The Wright Stuff” is about the Wright Brothers and the cast includes 30 local children, ages 7 to 15.
The plays are free and open to all. Indian Ladder Farms is at 342 Altamont Rd. in New Scotland. Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on. Refreshments will be available.
On Friday, Aug. 3, “The Wright Stuff” plays at 6:30 p.m., and “All’s Well That Ends Well” plays at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 5, “The Wright Stuff” plays at 1 p.m., and “All’s Well That End’s Well” plays at 3 p.m.
Both plays will also be performed at Proctors in the Fenimore Gallery in Schenectady with Jaster’s play at 3 p.m. and Shakespeare’s at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11. The cost of gala is $20.
