Maple on the Lake to host “Ireland’s Happy Man”
EAST BERNE — Cahal Dunne, a singer, pianist, and entertainer, will be performing at Maple on the Lake in East Berne, Sunday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m.
This will be the third time Dunne will perform at the restaurant; his performances have been organized by longtime Berne resident Peggy Warner.
“When I take anybody to see his show, they want to go again and again,” she said.
Warner first saw the Irish musician playing on the Public Broadcasting Service one night and was transfixed. She later saw him live at a performance in Florida, and eventually, after seeing him at several other shows, asked him to come to upstate New York to perform, to which he said yes.
Dunne grew up in Cork, Ireland. In 1979, he won the Eurovision Song Contest with his piece “Happy Man,” which he credits as his biggest break.
Dunne emigrated to the United States and lives in Pittsburgh with his wife.
“Everybody just loves him,” said Warner.
Cahal Dunne will be performing at Maple on the Lake in East Berne, Sunday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call (518) 872-1367 for more information.
