Stop the spending before it’s too late

To the Editor:

I find it irresponsible that the Berne Town Board is constantly focused on Joel Willsey and not working for the people of the town of Berne.

The town board must know where there is a pot of gold since the town supervisor says we do not have to worry about our finances. Between January and June 2019 and the same six-month period this year, Albany County has lost an estimated $15.5 million in sales-tax revenues alone due to COVID-19 and the economic shutdown. It is projected that that number could grow up to $60 million.

In this time of the COVID pandemic, I would stop the spending before it’s too late. When you are a town board member, you have a fiduciary responsibility to the people of Berne.

Joel Willsey seems to be the only one on the town board who is being fiscally responsible. Joel, I want to thank you for being there.

Editor’s note: Frank Brady, a Democrat, ran for Berne Town Board on the GOP line in 2017 and on the Democratic line in 2019; neither run was successful.
