Take a tour of Knox history

To the Editor:

The Knox Historical Society, located in the Saddlemire Homestead on Route 156 in the hamlet of Knox, will be open every Wednesday in the month of August from noon until 2 p.m.

Please stop by the museum to learn about your town through pictures, story books, family documents, and artifacts that have been donated to the museum. You will receive a guided tour of our nine rooms of Knox history.

You will learn about the pillbox factory that once stood in Knox and produced wooden pillboxes for over 100 years. You will learn about the Knox Cave located, of course, on Knox Cave Road. You will learn about our many one-room schoolhouses that were located throughout the town, and much, much more.

At the end of your tour, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase books and other items related to the history of Knox as well as free self-guided tours of Knox

So, once again, we hope to see you on any Wednesday in the month of August from noon until 2 p.m. At anytime you would like to take a tour, please call me at (518) 860-7861
