Helderberg youth group sets out to build a kinder world

To the Editor:

The Helderberg Family and Community Organization has launched a new youth-based community service group, The Helderberg Hearts and Hands Club, in the Hilltown communities of Albany County.

This group is dedicated to using our talents and energy to build a kinder world for all.

We are currently seeking donations of snack items for our active-duty military personnel. Our goal is to pack 1,000 snack bags to send overseas.

Would you consider making a donation of one or more of the following items?

— Blow pops;

— Gum;

— Fruit snacks;

— Hard candy;

— Crackers (six-cracker packs);

— Chewy bars;

— Granola bars;

— Single serve bags of cookies;

— Single serve bags of peanuts;

— Slim Jims; and

— Drink mix packets for individual water bottles.

Donations may be dropped off the following locations through Aug. 20:

— Altamont Agway;

— Knox Café, Knox;

— Stewart’s Shops, Altamont;

— Fox Creek Store, Berne;

— P and L Deli, Westerlo; and

— Roasted Garlic, Clarksville.

We will have a snack bag packing day on Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Knox Reformed Church. All are welcome to help us on that day!
