Knox GOP put community first ahead of party lines

To The Editor:

On July 13, the town of Knox had a Republican caucus meeting. I’m very happy with our selection of candidates to run in November.

I know it angered some of the folks in the Republican caucus that we did not stay on the party line, but it is not about the party — it’s about the community and to get the most qualified person for the job.

In the word “community” is the word “unity” (to unite).  Our selection that night shows the Republican Party’s willingness to go across party lines to achieve a bipartisan solution for the town of Knox and its people.

We selected Republicans, Democrats, and Independence Party and no-party affiliates for our ticket by putting the community first and selecting the most qualified individuals to represent us, and protect the future of our town — a combination of candidates Knox hasn’t seen in a long time if ever.

Let the small towns of America, like Knox, set the example for bipartisanship, not the clowns in D.C., Congress, and Senate.

I encourage you to vote the Republican slate this November and put the  unity” back in community.
