‘Has The Altamont Surprise arrived yet?’

To the Editor:

I am a 1963 graduate of Voorheesville Central. I left the area in the late seventies to pursue my life’s work.

I still have ties to the village and town and over the years The Altamont “Surprise” has been my information pipeline to the place I still call home.

The purpose of this note is to congratulate you on the excellent, well-written article covering the 2017 Voorheesville graduation ceremony.

Your descriptive prose hit all the high points as well as weaving in the the key messages of the collective speakers. I was transported to good old Voorheesville and, as I finished the piece, I felt as though I were in attendance.

Thank you for the article and thank you also for guiding the Enterprise to its current lofty standards.

Back in the late ’50s, my dad would look for the paper each week. He’d ask, “Has The Altamont Surprise arrived yet?”

So even today, we lovingly refer to the paper as The Altamont “Surprise.”
