Join us for the Fair Food Fest

To the Editor:

The Altamont Fair is hosting a Fair Food Fest for four weekends in July: Friday from  4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine!

We have heard from so many people saying they will miss the fair food from the Altamont Fair since the fair was canceled to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. And we know how COVID-19 has adversely affected our vendors. So we’ve invited our fair food vendors to help feed your fair food fix — win/win!

This is a drive-thru event. All you will have to do is drive in at the big sign on Route 146, drive up through Gate 1, order and pick up for take-out! We ask that you stay in your vehicle with a mask for the transactions to minimize exposure to others.

We are following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and from the Albany County Health department. The Grand Street pedestrian entrance to the fairgrounds will be open. The vendors will be accepting cash; some accept credit cards.

We will have a limited number socially-distant picnic tables available in the Grove. Once you have picked up your food, drive out Gate 2 to exit or take a right to Gate 3. Park there and walk into the grove to enjoy your food.

For the July 4th weekend, we have fried dough, deep-fried Oreos, pizza, gyros, sausage and peppers, wine slushies, fresh-cut french fries, tacos, burgers, corn dogs, steak sandwiches, maple cotton candy, and more! Not every vendor can come every weekend, so we will announce the vendors by Tuesday of each week so you know who is coming the next weekend.

And an added bonus: The Altamont Fire Department is hosting drive-in movies for three Friday nights in July. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for vendors and menus: www.altamontfair.com
