Heartwarming to see the support generated by letter
To the Editor:
We want to thank everyone who came to the Knox Town Planning Board meeting on May 18. It was heartwarming to see the support generated by our May 11 letter to the editor [“Attend so you are prepared if a solar facility is proposed next to your home”].
No one is opposed to solar energy. However, there are places conducive to the placement of a solar facility and there are locations where they just don’t belong.
Not one taxpaying Knox resident was in favor of this solar project’s location so close to 10 to 12 residential homes. Another valid point was posed to RIC Solar: How is cutting down 22 acres of trees a green initiative when there are many acres of vacant land throughout the town of Knox?
Also, do we want four large solar farms within a 2-mile radius to be the first thing visitors/tourists see upon entering our town? Another major concern for us is the adverse impact the noise generated during the three-month construction phase will have on our daughter who has cerebral palsy.
Lastly, we again urge all Knox residents to attend the July 13 Knox Town Planning Board meeting when the members will vote on this particular 4.4 megawatt solar project. We need you to voice your opinion before they cast their votes. As always, please check their website for confirmation of this date and time.
