GPD notes uptick in thefts from cars

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland and neighboring communities have experienced an uptick in thefts from unlocked motor vehicles during overnight hours, according to a notice from the Guilderland Police.

The police urge residents to lock their vehicles and not leave valuable items inside. In addition to vehicles, residences and out buildings should also be secured. Further, the police recommend use of outside lighting, alarms, and security cameras.

“Report any suspicious persons or vehicles immediately,” says the notice. Anyone who has information on recent thefts or has home security video is asked to contact Investigator John Laviano or Officer Matt Hanzalik at 518-356-1501.
