It takes a village to support a garden club

To the Editor:

Last Saturday, on June 18, the Guilderland Garden Club held a highly successful garage sale and garden tour. The purpose of the garage sale was to raise funds for a scholarship for a student studying horticulture or agriculture.

Thank you to those of you who turned up and purchased items. In addition to the many, many  contributors, we had great help in publicizing this event.

The Altamont Enterprise was so helpful with its Community Calendar. Guilderland Town Supervisor Peter Barber mentioned this event several times in his daily updates. The Guilderland Historic Society sent notices to its members. The McKownville Improvement Association was very helpful as was the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce. The  Guilderland Public Library gave us a shout out on its Facebook page.

It takes a village and we in the Guilderland Garden Club are so grateful. The event was headed up by Mrs. Linda Miller who did a great job along with the many members who contributed their time, talent, and enthusiasm to this project.

Our next meeting is on July 11 at 10 a.m. at the Guilderland Town Hall. Our guest speaker will be Patty Wukitsch, Hannaford  dietician, who will be talking about the Mediterranean Diet. You are invited.

We have seven new members this year. We would be so happy to add more. Thank you to all who made this garage sale possible.
