View Westerlo Hometown Heroes going back to the Civil War

To the Editor:

The Westerlo Hometown Heroes Banner Committee is excited to announce that all 61 banners depicting Westerlo’s Hometown Heroes are now displayed throughout town. This includes 45 new banners and 16 banners from last season displayed again.

This is our second year hosting this program and we are excited that we have doubled the number of banners from our first year! We invite you to take a tour around town and view our heroes going all the way back to the Civil War.

The committee would also like to thank the generous donors of this year’s banners. Whenever possible, please support these local people and businesses who support our heroes: Assemblyman Chris Tague, Bank of Greene County, Cottonwood Creek Veterinary Services, Craig Apple, Cypress Creek, Eastern Mutual Insurance, Energy Solutions for Americans, GNH, J&L Transport, Kelly’s Pharmacy, Larry and Dotty Verch, LeeAnn Royer at CM Fox Real Estate, M&Bs, Maple on the Lake, McDermott Automotive, Town Line Auto, Town Line Motorsports, and Whiteman Osterman & Hanna.

We are hosting our closing ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Westerlo Baptist Church. Everyone is invited and more details will follow.

We are also currently accepting donations of any amount to help with the costs of the ceremony. Checks may be made payable to Westerlo Hometown Heroes and mailed to Amie Burnside, 25 County Route 413, Westerlo, NY 12193.
