Mr. Csaposs, have you no interest in the truth?

To the Editor:

I understand the principle of your letters-to-the-editor section is that “each  person is entitled to their own opinion but not to their own facts.”

It is my opinion that the letter of June 10 authored by Mr. Donald Csaposs violated that principle [“Pastore and Beedle have a clear sense of dedication to their community,” The Altamont Enterprise, June 10, 2021].

He asserts as facts certain inferences and conclusions that are completely wrong and defamatory.

For instance, he claims that he is not  a part  of the Democratic organization yet he is identified (by the editor) as a paid contractor of the town and chief executive officer of the town’s Industrial Development  Agency.

And then he attacks the integrity and ethics of the two candidates who oppose the handpicked designees of the organization, to which he is beholden.

He asserts that Kevin McDonald has no history of involvement with the community.

Yet it’s obvious that he hasn’t bothered to review the website of McDonald’s campaign.

He insinuates that Christine Napierski has a financial interest in the request of a potential neighbor who seeks to divide a two-acre building lot in half in order to build a residence; that is a complete falsehood, and without any substance.

He further defames Christine by asserting that “questionable ethics” and “financial benefit to her is clear” — again without any truth to that defamation.

Mr. Csaposs, have you no shame?

Mr. Csaposs, have you no interest in the truth?

You remind me of the allegory in Dante’s “Divine Comedy” where the eighth circle is reserved for liars and deceivers of the public — you are mendacious.

Eugene E. Napierski, Esq.
