Wearing a face covering shows you care about others

To the Editor:

Over several years, I have read George Pratt’s letters in The Enterprise. Now I hope he will be reading this one.

I have asked George to please use a face covering before entering the post office. The first time, he said, “I have a bandana on.” My reply was for him to take it from his neck and place it over his mouth and nose. He did not.

The next few times, I reminded him that wearing the covering is for the safety of others. Again he did not place a face covering on.

This last time, just before entering the post office, my wife told him there is a sign stating that face masks are required. His reply: “I don’t believe in signs.”

Well, George, you were once Altamont’s police chief. Did you expect and require individuals to obey the law? I remind you, George, that it is the law to wear a face mask before entering a public area.

Wearing such a covering shows that you care about others and their health. Since the spoken word has not moved you in the past, then maybe this written form will.

Editor’s note: George Pratt responded, “The existing pandemic has had disastrous effects for many but it is being weaponized for the sole purpose of destroying [President Donald] Trump.”
