I have met some really cool people through these activities

To the Editor:
My name is Cailie Hardymon from Berne-Knox-Westerlo schools. I’m in eighth grade, and I’d like to talk about the budget vote. If the budget doesn’t pass then many things will be impacted, but the thing I would like to address today is the music department.

The music department consists of band, chorus, and theater. If the budget does not pass, then the theater department would be completely eliminated, and all band activities outside of the original class would be cut; for example, marching band and jazz band, and the same would be said for chorus.

I have developed many good memories as a result of theater and band, and I have met some really cool people through these activities that have created friendships that will last through my entire high school career.

I look forward to continuing these activities next year, but if the budget doesn't pass then I will be unable to make more of those memories or meet more people. Plus the kids in the lower grades would not get a chance to create those memories with their peers.

With that said, if the budget does not pass, many of the extracurriculars I’ve grown to love over these last two years would not continue. Please make it possible for me and everyone else to continue these activities by voting in favor of the budget.
