Esports has pushed me to learn new things, starting my own content creation
To the Editor:
Throughout my middle-school years I have been involved in the esports program. This program allows many people to competitively play video games or just stay after school and play games with your friends.
This program gives many students new opportunities in our school. An example of this is The Super Smash Bros. tournament our school held and had students compete in. We had multiple students place as well as had students streaming it worldwide. This was an overall great experience for everyone that came as it allowed students to connect with each other through this event.
I myself managed the stream for this tournament. I made sure everything was running smoothly. This ranged from video and audio to making sure everyone was playing who they were supposed to.
During this event, I learned an entirely new program as well as digital design through a new software. I learned many new skills through esports and it has done so for others as well.
Esports and my coach Mr. [William] Dergosits have pushed me to learn new things as well as try new things which has led me to starting my own content creation.
This is why esports needs to stay at BKW. So many people have put time and effort into this program. Many people have been presented with new opportunities and have learned new skills through Esports.
Esports is a growing industry and there are many students, myself included, who plan on having careers within this field. Esports has supported these careers through scholarships given while competing in tournament play.
