Tabak’s career in family law suits her for judge

To the Editor:

As the June 25 date for the Democratic Party primary election draws close, I would like to recommend to those eligible to vote in the election that they seriously consider voting for Margaret Tabak for Albany County Family Court Judge.

In a crowded field of candidates seeking one of the two open Family Court positions, I find Guilderland resident Ms. Tabak to be singularly qualified for the position for several reasons.

First, she has spent essentially her whole professional career engaged in the practice of family law, which certainly gives her a leg up on a number of other candidates in terms of professional experience. My experience is that many of the Tabak supporters I have met in the past few months are also involved with Family Court, and their support for Ms. Tabak is a significant motivator for me.

Second, the nature of the difficult and sometimes downright tragic situations that Family Court judges need to deal with is such that a judge is well served with the level-headed but compassionate personality of someone like Ms. Tabak.

Finally, I find it noteworthy that Ms. Tabak has a very down-to-earth manner. In other words, I expect that she will take the job of being a Family Court judge more seriously than she will take herself, a healthy attitude in public service.

I hope that fellow Albany County Democrats will join me on June 25 in supporting Margaret Tabak for Albany County Family Court Judge.
