Help Plan the Future of New Scotland

To the Editor,

The purpose of a comprehensive plan is to identify a town’s goals, objectives, principles, guidelines, policies, standards, devices, and instruments for its immediate and long-range protection, enhancement, growth and development.

The Town of New Scotland will be updating its comprehensive land use plan last issued in 1994. To that end, the town’s Comprehensive Plan Update Committee has scheduled four public workshops at locations throughout the town. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their views regarding the town’s vision for its future as well as goals and objectives necessary to achieve that vision.

Topics to be discussed include town centers, the local economy, agriculture, improving health and promoting active living, protecting natural habitats and ecosystems, housing, transportation, renewable energy, engaging and connecting community members, and historic and cultural resources, among others.

The workshop dates and locations are as follows:

• June 13, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Feura Bush Fire House, 6 Unionville Feura Bush Road, Feura Bush;

• June 20, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Clarksville Fire House, 2178 Tarrytown Road, Clarksville;

• June 22, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the New Salem Fire House, 694 New Salem Road, Voorheesville; and

• June 26, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the New Scotland Town Hall, 2029 New Scotland Road, Slingerlands.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this important mission.

Christine M. Galvin

Chairwoman of the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee
