Garden club awards scholarship, enhances Mercy Care gardens

To the Editor:
It is with great pleasure that I send along to you and the public information regarding the recent activities of the Guilderland Garden Club. On May 29, our Scholarship Chairwoman Ann Trolenburg presented a $500 Scholarship award to Nora Biega.

Miss Biega will be attending Tufts University in the fall with a  major in environmental engineering. Ms. Trolenberg was assisted by Linda Walter and Judi Golombiski in making the selection.

The fundraising for the scholarship was enhanced by the sales of Nothing Bundt Cakes. This endeavor was chaired by Donna Mohr, Judi Golombiski, and Kris Vogt.

The Robert Soldoveri Foundation of Totowa, New Jersey has awarded the Guilderland Garden Club $500 for our 2025 scholarship funding. We are very proud of this award as it recognizes the hard work of our members is securing as well as awarding funds for our recipients.

On June 3, the Guilderland Garden Club awarded a $200 check to the Guilderland High School Garden Club. We hope that this donation helps with some of their expenses.

On May 29, members of the Guilderland Garden Club met at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center to enhance the gardens there. Ten members of the club pitched in to improve the various gardens and help bring some joy to the residents at Mercycare Lane.

We have had a great spring.
