‘A Visit with Slingerlands’ Founding Family’

The Friends of the Slingerland Family Burial Vault will present “A Visit with Slingerlands’ Founding Family” on Friday evening, June 28.  Participants will enjoy an evening walking tour of historic Slingerlands and experience first-person presentations by costumed performers at locations along the tour route.

After a general history of the hamlet provided by the town historian, Susan Leath, groups will head to the Slingerland family homestead built in the 1790s for a visit with Leah Britt Slingerland and her son Congressman John I. Slingerland. The group will then move to the family burial vault for a chat with William H. Slingerland, engineer and surveyor.

Tours step off at 6, 6:30, and 7 p.m. on Friday, June 28, from the picnic pavilion at the Slingerlands Fire Department on New Scotland Road.

Advance tickets are required and may be purchased through Eventbrite. https://slingerlandvault.eventbrite.com.
