Rensselaerville picnic celebrates unity of five hamlets

RENSSELAERVILLE — The town will hold its annual picnic on Sunday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, at the Medusa firehouse and park to celebrate the unity of its five hamlets: Cooksburg, Medusa, Preston Hollow, Potter Hollow, and Rensselaerville.

The town council created this event as a way to bring residents together to share a meal and build community spirit. Hot dogs and hamburgers, homemade salads, and desserts will be on the menu.

Town businesses and organizations will host informational tables. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office trained dogs will give demonstrations. Volunteer fire companies and the ambulance corps will have vehicles and representatives on hand.

A ceremony to honor veterans and members of the armed services will be held at 4 p.m. in the flag area.

Games and activities for adults and kids will include a playground, horseshoes, and a coin search. Dan Ryan and his Hatchet Man band will provide music.

All current and former Rensselaerville residents are invited. Those whose last names begin with A through M are asked to bring a salad to share; those whose last names begin with N through Z are asked to bring a dessert to share.

Businesses and organizations that want to host an information table may contact Margaret Sedlmeir at 518-239-6282.
