Rabbit Ramble — live this year — set for June 12

To the Editor:
On June 12, we will be holding the 27th annual Rabbit Ramble 4-Mile Run and 2-Mile Community Walk, at Crupe Bozenkill Park on Gun Club Road in Altamont. The event starts at 9 a.m.

This event has been held for many years at Guilderland High School on Easter weekend, but because of COVID-19 restrictions, we could not hold the event at the school.

We wanted to keep the event alive and hold it live this year (we went virtual last year) — so we worked with the village of Altamont and came up with the June12 date — not Easter, but still doing a live event.

The event benefits local food pantries and features a Community Walk for those who would like to join us and cannot run the 4-mile distance. The 2-mile walk is on an out-and-back course, which gets the walkers back to the park along with the runners, not after.

We will have awards for the top three overall male and female in the 4-mile, along with the top three male and female in 16 age groups. Awards for the walk will be the top eight overall combined.

Course maps will be available soon.

T-shirts are available for the first 100 that register by June 3. There will be no day-of-race registration (still being COVID safe).

Registration is available online at https://zippyreg.com/online_reg/?e=1532

Email if you would like an entry form sent to you.

Those competing are asked to bring unexpired canned or dry goods.

Besides the competitors making an event successful, volunteers are the backbone of events like this. We are in need of 10 to 20 volunteers. T-shirts go to all volunteers — no experience necessary, on-the-job training provided. Volunteers should let us know by June 3.

So, please come out and support the 27th Rabbit Ramble, as a competitor, walker, or volunteer.

Thank you.
