Civil War Soldier Dies. 

Isaac R. Van Kleeck, veteran of the Civil war, died last week at the home of his son, William Van Kleeck, in Albany. Mr. Van Kleeck was 85 years old. 

THOMPSON’S LAKE. 

Mrs. McAuley, who has sold her residence here to Mrs. Graves, also of Albany, will have an auction sale of her household goods June 10th. Mrs. McAuley came out Monday and will spend three weeks here before giving over possession to the new owner. 

REIDSVILLE. 

Will all the lot owners and all interested in Reidsville cemetery come and help clear it up on the afternoon of May 31st. (Decoration Day.) 

McKOWNVILLE. 

The little folks of the Sunday school are planning to give a cantata on Children’s Day. The exact date and time will be given out later. 

FARMERS’ FIELD DAY  AT CORNELL PLANNED. 

A series of three farmers’ field days are planned for Ithaca on June 30, July 1 and 2. 

Field demonstrations will include demonstrations in orchard and experiment plots, designed to show new facts in plant breeding, soil treatment, crop rotations, pasture improvements, flower growing and the like. 

NEW SALEM — NORTH END. 

Mrs. H. Moak expects to open her ice cream parlor Saturday evening, May 29. 

VILLAGE NOTES. 

— The Senior class of the Altamont high school are planning for a Senior ball to be given on Wednesday evening, June 23. Lewis’ colored jazz orchestra will play. The tickets, costing one dollar, will be placed on sale soon. 

— Donations of flowers for the graves of soldiers should be left at Pangburn Bros.’ store before 9 o’clock on May 31. M. H. Barclay Post No. 198, G. A. B., will have charge of the services at Prospect Hill cemetery, Guilderland. They will also decorate the soldiers’ graves at Fairview and Reformed church cemeteries. D. H. Dyer, chairman of the flower committee of the Post, requests that liberal donations of flowers be given by residents of Altamont. The school children especially are urged to take it upon themselves to see that the veterans are supplied with an abundance of flowers with which to honor their fallen comrades.
