Upset to read about local business

To the Editor

I read The Enterprise regularly and think the paper and staff do a good job of covering world/national events, local happenings, and even historical articles.

I was surprised by the whole context of an article last week about the Apropos Prom and Bridal Store. I do know the owner — she was a member of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce and, when I worked there, we did her grand opening. But I am not writing this because she asked me to or put me up to it. I am writing because I don’t like seeing our businesses not supported by the community due to what is obviously one side of a story.  I was upset to read this!

I am puzzled by the article. I read it and thought, “Where did this come from?” It was not a normal article for The Enterprise at all. As I read the two-page spread, I saw that people from all over the country were contacted to give feedback about customer service at the store, based on some negative reviews.

As I said, I have read the Enterprise for years. I have, through the chamber, known of some scandalous and newsworthy business happenings in town, but none of them were covered like this one. There are some business owners in Guilderland who are equally as critiqued by unhappy customers as Apropos owner Sindi Saita, and I haven’t seen any articles on them.

Many of our small business owners work seven days a week. Of course they have bad days, accidents, and staffing issues, but it seems unfair to judge them based on angry reviews. We all know happy customers don’t write reviews!
