Crowd comes to Hannay Room opening. Our library is a gem worth visiting!

To the Editor:

The Westerlo Public Library Board of Trustees would like to thank the nearly 100 local residents who turned out last week to help us commemorate the grand opening and dedication of The Hannay Room.

This newly constructed, 600-square-foot community room was built with funds from a Library Construction Grant from the New York State Education Department with additional financial support from Hannay Reels, members of the Hannay family, state funds secured through Senator George Amedore, The Bank of Greene County, Stewart’s Foundation, and private individuals.

The room is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and a small kitchen, and will be used by the library for programs and meetings as well as for art shows and concerts. The library invites local organizations to use the room for their meetings and events.

The library is more than just a place to get books! Come and have a free cup of coffee while you use our free WiFi or while you enjoy the art show that is currently hanging in the Hannay Room.

This show, which will be hanging for two months, features local artists and most pieces are of local scenes that will be familiar to you. If the weather is good, plan on eating your picnic lunch on our beautiful outdoor patio.

We think these recent renovations make our library a gem worth visiting!
