RAVENA.

Mrs. Eugene Snyder met with a very painful accident Monday morning. After sweeping her floor she took the sweepings and went to throw them into the stove, not noticing that the dirt contained a very small copper cartridge which one of her small boys had brought from a troop train and dropped on the floor. As soon as the cartridge struck the fire it exploded, the bullet hitting Mrs. Snyder just below the collar bone. The powder also burned her face. She was taken to the Albany hospital to have an X-Ray photograph taken in an attempt to see if it could be found out what the cartridge contained. No late reports have been received. It is hoped that nothing dangerous will set in.

SINGLE SESSION PROPOSED FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL

It is suggested that the interests of the Altamont High school would be furthered by changing the two-session day to a single-session day, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and closing at 3 p.m., allowing at noon a fifteen-minute period for lunch.

1. The present lunch period is fatiguing. It is too short for the majority of resident pupils to cover the distance and from home and have sufficient time for a meal.

2. The carrying of lunches will furnish no new difficulty. At present, non-residents bring their lunches.

VOORHEESVILLE.
Bear in memory the splendid supper which will be in readiness in the dining room of the Reformed church on the evening of Decoration day. After all are served, Emil Closs, the popular Swiss bell ringer, humorist, pantomimist, impersonator, monologist, will give one of his delightful entertainments. Supper, 50 cents; entertainment, 25 cents. Children under 12, 15 cents.

UNION CHURCH.

Special arrangements are under way for the C. E. prayer meeting to be held Wednesday evening, May 28. This is to be a meeting with the Juniors, also a memory meeting, no books being used. The Scripture readings and hymns are to be memorized.

BASEBALL IS BACK IN ALTAMONT

With eight teams in the circuit instead of four, as was the case last year, the Albany County Baseball league will open its season to-morrow afternoon, May 24. The opening games are as follows:

New Scotland at McKownville. Guilderland at Voorheesville. Slingerlands at Elsmere. Delmar at Altamont.
