It is a win-win to have Costco here

To the Editor:

I support the Rapp Road projects being proposed by Crossgates and Costco. I don’t think Guilderland residents even understand how low the taxes are compared to other towns, all thanks to places like Crossgates Mall and Stuyvesant Plaza.

The sales tax we get from bringing people here instead of other places impacts our town budget. And the school and property taxes paid by these companies offset our taxes to the point that we have lower taxes than most other suburban areas in the region.

We are lucky to have a place like Costco want to build here; Costco could choose other places but chose Guilderland instead. Then, other businesses will choose here because of that and we end up with a town that people want to come to — it is a win-win to have Costco here.
