To the Editor:

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community for its response to the passing of my husband, Peter Oliver Jr., on March 30, 2021. Peter and I were born and raised in the Hilltowns and moved to Altamont in 1980.

Even a simple farmer gets to know quite a few folks when you stay in an area for eight decades. Peter sure did get to know a lot of you.

That was evidenced by the turnout to his viewing at Fredendall Funeral Home, where more than 400 of you waited in line to say your final words. My family sure did appreciate that. Just like we appreciated all of the cards, prayers, kind words, flowers, food, and more we received in the weeks that followed his passing.

Spring is here. The hay fields are growing once again. Peter is gone but not forgotten, just like the kindness displayed by all of you. Thank you.
