Supporting a neighbor in need: Among those present at the May 10 fundraiser for Kathleen O’Neill Perry are, from left: Kathy’s daughter, Lisa VanDyke; neighbor Sheila Galvin; Rick Matlock; Kathy O’Neill-Perry; Larry Wilson; Brett Pulliam; and Kyle Pulliam.

To the Editor:

On Friday, May 10, a fundraiser was held in Knox for Kathleen O’Neill Perry, who suffered devastating losses in a house fire in April. The event raised over $1,800 for Ms. O’Neill Perry and will hopefully help in her recovery.

The generosity of those who attended, as well as the many people that sent in donations separately (another $1,200), reflects one of our community’s greatest values: supporting a neighbor in need.

Thank you to the band members of the Bluestones (Brett Pulliam, Kyle Pulliam, Rick Matlock, and Larry Wilson), the Township Tavern’s Paul Centi, and Earl Barcomb and Amy Pokorny for organizing the event.

Donations may still be made for O’Neill Perry by forwarding funds in her name to St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church at Post Office Box 678, Altamont, New York 12009.

We can all take pride in our community spirit, compassion, and friendship!
