Honesty and integrity beyond reproach

To the Editor:

If you are anything like me then checking your mailbox has taken on greater significance in recent weeks. I am thankful to be healthy and mostly unaffected by our strange new world but I am also grateful for the excuse to step away from my work, stretch my legs, and participate in what seems like a “normal” daily ritual.

Sure, I’m wearing pajamas more often than I care to admit and, yes, most of the mail I find goes straight to the recycling bin, but that little stroll is still something I look forward to each day. To all residents of the Voorheesville School District, something worthwhile is on its way to your mailbox soon.

On June 9, absentee ballots will be counted and, along with the budget, the composition of the Voorheesville Central School District Board of Education will be decided. Please note: Ballots will start arriving soon but if you do not receive one by June 3 — please contact the district office.

Voorheesville is fortunate in that we never lack for quality individuals willing to dedicate their time and energy to our board. I am sure this year will be no different, but I am writing today to offer my support for one such person in particular.

Patricia Putman is the most dedicated and supremely qualified person we can choose to serve on the VCSD Board of Education and absolutely deserving of your vote. Between “Good Eats,” the school garden, her constant presence within our schools, and her unmatched involvement in school affairs, chances are you have crossed paths with Tricia.

Her honesty and integrity are beyond reproach and her judgement is always steady, informed, and worthy of the highest consideration. Tricia is someone I innately trust whether concerning a school matter or beyond and I believe there is no one more familiar with the complexities and challenges facing our district.

She will not be outworked and has proven time and again there is no better advocate for our kids, our teachers, and the Voorheesville community as a whole. Tricia matches drive and competency with compassion.

She is intent yet inclusive, undeterred yet understanding. I look forward to casting my vote for Patricia Putman and the peace of mind her potential appointment to the board will provide. I implore you to please do the same!

Please keep checking those mailboxes! Again, if your ballot has not arrived by June 3 — call the district office.

Any resident 18 years or older prior to June 7 — whether you are registered to vote or not — is eligible to vote via absentee ballot! Please call the district office and add your name to the list.

If you haven’t voted in the past or it’s been a while since your last vote — please call the district office and add your name to the list. The phone number at the VCSD District Office is 518-765-3313.
