To the Editor:
Please watch for the convertible with Grand Marshal Cindy Pollard in Altamont’s May 22 Memorial Day Parade.

Most folks from Altamont know and love Cindy; she was the owner of the Home Front Café and created a museum of sorts full of World War II memorabilia as well as a recreation of how she remembered her mother’s 1940s kitchen!

Cindy was also instrumental in “I Remember Altamont” gatherings, which inspired locals to talk about their personal memories of this beloved village.

So fly your flag and wave to Cindy when she rolls by — you may be lucky enough to speak to her during our community field day to follow the memorial service. See you then!
