Increased budget will help students and programs

To the Editor:

The Guilderland school budget is very important because it can dictate how much the residents would have to pay in taxes and it can be the source of successful learning programs and athletic programs. It is important to increase the school’s budget because it can help guarantee that the students are getting a great education, which will lead to good grades and being set up to be successful in their future.

Increasing the budget will also help the schools acquire some assets that they are in need of. These include two English-as-a-new-language teachers, an elementary-school counselor, the replacement of aging technology equipment, and an upgrade to software. Replacing aging technology and upgrading software will help a student’s education because students will be able to get more work done since they won’t be waiting for their computers to load due to the old and outdated software.

It will also help students learn because teachers will have better technology that can get students more involved and interested about various topics. Acquiring these assets is crucial in making sure that the students and children of the town of Guilderland have everything that they need in order to be successful and succeed in school.

The new budget will help the return of the junior-varsity golf program and bring back all four levels of the girls’ basketball program. With the return of these programs, more students will be able to participate in Guilderland athletics and be able to learn what it’s like to be on a team and how to work with people in an environment that they want to be in, if they have never had that experience before.

I believe that the school budget should be increased because it will benefit the children in the school district and have a bigger impact on the town in the long run as opposed to having lower taxes.
