Volunteer to help your neighbors

To the Editor:

One event down — one more to go! The second day of Community Cares Days, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, will be held this coming Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the New Scotland Town Hall.

The volunteer event will feature over a dozen projects, helping our seniors and disabled neighbors throughout the town of New Scotland. Volunteers are asked to report at the town hall at 8:30 a.m. to receive their project assignment.

Projects include washing windows, planting flowers, and yard work as well as a few skilled projects involving exterior home repairs. The event will take place in light rain or shine. To sign up to help, send an email to or call me at (518) 369-0093.

The first Community Cares Days event, Community Green Clean, took place this past Saturday, April 29. We plan to share pictures and much-deserved thanks very soon!

Community Cares Days is a collaborative effort among the town of New Scotland, the village of Voorheesville, and New Scotland Kiwanis.

To thank everyone who participated in one or both events, there will be a volunteer barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. at New Scotland Town Hall. We hope to see our volunteers there so we can celebrate the caring work you have done for your community.
