Mark G. Haines

Mark G. Haines of Gloversville, who loved his home and anything with a motor, died on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was 65.

He was born in Albany on Oct. 16, 1956, a son of the late Dayton and Agnes Gribbon Haines and attended school in Guilderland. He lived in Knox before moving to Mayfield 31 years ago.

Mr. Haines was employed as a custodian at the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Albany for more than 20 years, retiring in 2010.

“Mark loved anything with a motor and was affectionately known as a ‘car guy,’” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was a huge NASCAR fan and loved motorcycling. Mark loved his home and his property and was so proud of his garage space.”

Mark G. Haines is survived by his wife, Linda Gaige Haines, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1982; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carissa Haines of Mayfield; a sister, Catherine Fish, and her husband, Dean, of Voorheesville; his precious grandson, Jayden Haines; and a niece.

Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium in Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home at 111 County Highway 106 in Johnstown.

A memorial service will be held at noon at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bonnie Orth officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.
