Heath Farm could partner with food pantries

To the Editor:

On the front page of your April 10 edition, there were two stories that related to each other. The headlines were:

— 1. “It’s not waste, it’s investment, say food pantry partners at Tonko roundtable.” Because of federal government cuts, farmers and food availability are in trouble;

— 2. “Bethlehem continues to pursue modern vision for historic Heath Farm.” Plans are being made for the use and preservation of agricultural land.

It seems to me that the two could partner.

Some of the goals of the planning group, the Heath Farm Advisory Committee, include “farmland preservation, agricultural education, incubating next-generation farmers and community well-being.”

There are many possibilities for cooperation.

I’m always hopeful that good can overcome the chaos and cruelty around us.
