Thompsons Lake
On Monday, April 13, my daughter, Marcia Pangburn, came and had breakfast with me. I wrote the news and took it to Altamont.
I felt sleepy all day, and I think it’s because the weather suddenly warmed up.
On Tuesday, April 14, I had my usual breakfast guest and then my granddaughter, Kassi Neal, came to spend some time with me.
In the early afternoon, I visited my long time friend, Nancy O’Donnell, who is getting ready to move to South Carolina. It’s been a long time since we’ve had tea together. It was like old times, but now I’ll have to visit with Nancy by telephone.
I can still visit her homestead because my nephew, Travis Richardson, his wife Sabrina, and children, Ashlynn and Logan have moved into Nancy’s home on Irish Hill Road.
On Wednesday, April 15, I went on the dinner visit with my grandson, Brandon Clark with his children, Samson and Nichole. Added to our joy was the addition of my daughter, Marcia. She is Brandon’s mother and Samson and Nichole’s grandmother.
It was a warm sunny afternoon and we spent two hours in a beautiful park in Cobleskill.
On Thursday, April 16, I spent a couple of hours after breakfast on the telephone trying to get the exact price of a prescription by mail order. Everything seems to be getting more expensive. I finally decided mail order was cheaper than the drug store and sent off my check.
Then I went to lunch with my daughters, Marcia Pangburn and Kathy Carnevale and my granddaughter, Kassi Neal. We went to the Home Front Café in Altamont. Kassi wants to have everything ordered locally for her wedding and she had a 2 p.m. appointment with their bakery to supply her wedding cake.
It was an interesting meeting, like sitting around the table with family. It was relaxing and wonderful.
Everything now a-days seems so commercialized. We have really found the best in our community.
On Friday, April 17, I went to BJ’s for dog food and a few other items. I bought more groceries at Price Chopper and came home very tired.
Brandon and Jenn Smith invited me to eat with them, but I ate my leftovers from lunch. I guess it could be just getting older.
On Saturday, April 18, Marcia took her daughter, Kyra Swan, and granddaughter, Nichole Clark roller-skating. Samson hasn’t been feeling well and Iain decided to play video games with Samson.
Brandon and Jenn attended the burial services for her grandfather, Robert Hughes, in Wood Lawn Cemetery in Berne. They got to spend time with her grandmother, Connie Hughes and Great Aunt Virginia Stackman. There were many relatives from the Hughes, Stackman, and Smith families at the burial and later at Maple on the Lake.
On Saturday evening I enjoyed English Muffin pizzas with Brandon, Jenn, and the children. Jenn said her grandfather, Bob Hughes, always liked English Muffin pizzas.
Sunday, April 19, was church and then I visited my granddaughter, Danielle Ricketts, Zoey, and Matt Babcock. Zoey is now coloring with washable magic markers. She has a very sensitive side and she cried when Danielle showed me a picture where she had colored her face with magic marker, but it did wash right off.
I came home and started preparing dinner. I had salmon, mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh asparagus, and winter squash. Brandon, Samson, Nichole, Marcia, and Kyra ate with me. Jenn brought over some chocolate cookies she baked but she didn’t stay, her son, Iain Bullis, was sick. After enjoying dinner together, I rode with Brandon to take Samson and Nichole back to Schoharie.
The time spent with my family makes my life fulfilled.
