Post your bike journey to get bikes for the library to loan

VOORHEESVILLE — The Voorheesville Family Bicycling Day is organizing a community bicycling challenge during the month of May which is National Bike month. The organization is encouraging community members to explore the many beautiful dirt, gravel, and paved bicycle routes available in the area. The month-long challenge unites an individual’s achievement with a community-wide benefit.

Participants are asked to post a picture of their journey, along with a brief description, to the Voorheesville Family Bicycling Day Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter page, using #vvillebikes. Participants could also send an email to voorheesvillefamilybicycleday@gmail.com.

For every 100 posts, the Voorheesville Family Bicycling Day will donate one bicycle to the Voorheesville Public Library. The bicycle will become a part of the library’s Library of Things collection and available to library card holders. The goal is to donate four bicycles.

After submitting an adventure, participants may pick up a prize bag at the Voorheesville Public Library. The prize bag will contain a coupon for Gracie’s Ice Cream Station, bicycle-related gear, and five raffle tickets to enter the grand-prize drawing.

The grand prize is a $100 gift certificate to Steiner’s Sports. Only one prize bag is allowed per person or family while supplies last.

The May Community Bicycling Challenge is sponsored by the Village of Voorheesville, Voorheesville Community and School Foundation, and the Voorheesville Public Library.
