My pet ducks were killed, drivers should slow down

To the Editor:

I live on Bozenkill Road and I lost my two favorite ducks the other day. First I want to thank the lady who killed my ducks for stopping. I appreciate that.

I just wanted to say I work really hard to keep my animals safe; that is my job. They are not usually in the road, but it was a nice spring day and they were looking for some water to play in.

Those ducks were my pets. Pompeii and his partner, Ophelia, both died. They had been together since birth. I am thankful that they both died together as they would have searched for each other if only one had lived. As it is, my other two girls are lost without their protector, Pompeii.

People fly up and down this road every day. I stand at my kitchen window and I know people are going over 60 miles per hour. I cannot help but feel that, if people would slow, down my ducks would still be alive.

Next time, it might be a deer, a dog, an alpaca, or a person that is alongside the road. It is called defensive driving so please slow down.
