Vaccinating in the Hilltowns was truly a team effort

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to thank the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and Critical Incident Management Team. With their effort and the Hilltown community we were able to put a large dent in the number of residents vaccinated.

It is with great pride and honor I worked with the town clerks from Westerlo, Berne, Rensselaerville, and Knox as well as Sergeant David Poole and Betty Filkins to reach many who were in need.

The focus of this group of people making the calls to residents was primarily those who have reached out for a vaccine to the sheriff’s office or town halls, those who may have needed a ride to the vaccine site, those shut in, and those who have compromised health.

We were given a timeframe to call and set or confirm those appointments. This was completed swiftly and was truly a team effort.

We worked off several lists given to us by the Hilltown seniors, and medical providers, plus those who called in to the town halls and sheriff’s office.

I can tell you with every bit of truth I have that this was not in any way politically motivated and I am confident that most would agree.

So to wrap this up, I want to thank Sheriff Craig Apple and Sergeant David Poole; town clerks Karla Weaver, Anita Clayton, Tracy Shanz, and Vicky Kraker as well as Betty Filkins for taking care of our Hilltown communities —  a job well done all!  Thank you all!
