Lucky we don’t burn or stone folks anymore

To the Editor:

Some short years ago in history — well, not that short as no one currently alive was alive when it happened — many folks on the North American continent (primarily in the white, eastern locations) were consumed with anger, suspicions, and outrage!

Much like similar folks today have been in hysterics about schools and the hot dangerous topics of CRT, LGBTQ+, trans, books, masks, vaccines, and other such claptrap. (Note: I tend to utilize the Oxford (aka “serial”) comma when composing such lists).

Years ago, it was witches and many were hung, burned, stoned, even branded and hung. Or hung then burned. Or all of that. Ouch.

It’s good to know we live in much saner times where burnings and hangings are (supposed to be) just memories. I guess the smell of burning or rotting flesh goes against the common sensibilities. Most likely the impact on property values outweighs today’s common sensibilities.

Anyhow, it seems more likely that the anti-CRT/LGBTQ+/Trans/Books/Masks/Vaccines/Claptrap crowd hope malcontents are just shot by random gunfire; and they are doing everything they can to promote the proliferation of firearms — towards that end perhaps?

One other observation: Those same people angry about the myth of CRT being taught in any public schools appear to be the same ones that demand stronger law enforcement, deride “liberals” as soft on crime.

And yet, when the law is very carefully and with great gravitas being applied to the self-professed super-genius (who promoted horse-wormer stuff, and UV lights, and the use of atomic weapons against hurricanes) they are all up in hysterics.

Huh? All I know is that the now-indicted orange individual is sure lucky we don’t burn or stone folks found guilty anymore!
