Guilderland Police seek info on shooting
GUILDERLAND — After gunfire in the Best Buy parking lot of Crossgates Mall on Sunday wounded a girl’s hand, Guilderland Police said on Thursday that they are trying to identify two groups involved in the gunfire exchange.
The 17-year-old girl who was wounded was not involved in the exchange, according to a release the department sent out on Thursday evening, which said the gunshots were fired on April 10 at about 2:50 p.m.
“If anyone has information pertaining to anyone in these groups, please contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Guilderland Police Department at 518 356-1501 or submit a tip with Capital Region Crime Stoppers at Capitalregioncrimestoppers.com,” the release said.
On Tuesday, Curtis Cox, deputy chief of the Guilderland Police, told The Enterprise, “We are not ready to release any further information yet.”
Two previous shootings occurred at Crossgates Mall — in 2020 and 2016 — and there have been a series of brawls and stabbings in recent years.
