Phil Teumim, president of Old Songs Inc., a Capital District not-for-profit organization dedicated to “keeping traditional music and dance alive through the presentation of festivals, concerts, dances, and educational programs,” will perform online on April 17.

Capital Region singer-songwriter Phil Teumim will present a concert of original songs in a performance to benefit B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation and Family Promise of the Capital Region.

The concert will be streamed live on YouTube Saturday on April 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Teumim will draw from his diverse repertoire, including several songs from his previously released CDs All Over the Map (2011) and Far and Wide (2015). Some tunes will carry an international flavor reflecting his real or imagined experiences in Ireland, Scotland, Newfoundland, Mexico, and Brooklyn.

Closer to home, other pieces will include songs inspired by the pandemic, a voyage to inner space, a touching tribute to the banjo, and a visit to a veterinary clinic.  Teumim will accompany himself on six- and 12-string guitars and banjo.

Teumim’s blend of acoustic Americana includes songs that are funny and serious, sentimental and silly, typically not all at the same time.  He usually leaves it to the audience to determine which are which.

Donations may be made directly to either or both of the organizations at any time or during the concert using an on-screen link.

To view the concert, obtain the YouTube link in advance by emailing Teumim at with “Concert Link” in the subject line. The link also will be available on the B’nai Sholom and Family Promise websites several days prior to the concert.
