Progress: Animal Clinic thanks loyal clients, welcomes fourth veterinarian

The Village Animal Clinic is now in its seventh year of operation, and was voted the number-one veterinary practice in the Capital Region in the 2016 Times Union’s annual readers’ opinion poll. Thank you to all our loyal clients who took the time to vote. We continue to grow and change for the positive, the better to serve our expanding clientele. We have added our fourth veterinarian, Roxanne Hammond, DVM, who is already gaining a loyal following of clients and looks forward to meeting the rest of you.

We purchased an additional critical diagnostic and treatment tool to add to the services we already provide: our new endoscope will permit us to take a quick look in a sedated pet to confirm (for example) the presence of a swallowed foreign body in the stomach so that a surgical exploration can be avoided; it may even allow us to retrieve the problem object with its accompanying instrumentation, again avoiding surgery.

Our construction finally finished last spring, giving us a better traffic flow and more soothing waiting areas for our patients. If your companions do not enjoy the range of treats we offer them to minimize their stress, then please bring some known favorites from home so that we can make this visit as stress–free as possible. A favorite sleeping pad/bed/blanket may help as well.

We take our position in our community as one of the Village of Voorheesville’s primary businesses very seriously. For that reason, we continue to serve as a local resource, offering tours to young children’s groups and making available the chance to “shadow” our doctors and technicians to older students—age 13 to adult—if they are considering a veterinary career. We sponsor annual community fundraisers (our September “Canine Classic” 5K Run and our December “Photos with Santa”) which raise significant donations for local animal rescue and shelter groups.

We thank you all who have contributed to our popularity.
