 PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at the next meeting of the Planning Commission of the Village of Voorheesville the Board will hold a Public Hearing on the an application from  Stewarts Shops, who is requesting a Special Use Permit to construct a store with gas pumps at 112 Maple Avenue.

This meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 7 PM at the Voorheesville Elementary School  auditorium, 129 Maple Avenue, Voorheesville.

LEGAL NOTICE

The Knox Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, 13 April 2017 at the Knox Town Hall on Rte 156 in the Hamlet.  The meeting will start at 7:30 PM. The meeting regards the Site Plan Review for a 1.6 Mega Watt solar array on a 28.2 acre parcel on Rte 156 near the border with the Town of Guilderland.  The array will provide  electric power to several Capital District businesses.  All interested parties should attend to learn about the project and to ask questions and provide comments to the Planning Board.

June 2017 Board meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 7 th;

July 2017 Board meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 18 th; 

September 2017 Board meeting to be held on Wednesday, September 6 th.

NOTICE OF BALLOON TEST

A balloon test will be conducted at 5075 Hurst Road, Town of Guilderland, New York (“Site”) in connection with an application for a Use Variance and Special Use Permit to locate a wireless telecommunications facility at the Site. This application has been made to the Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals by CELLCO Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless and Tarpon Towers II, LLC. The balloon test is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2017. The balloon test will take place between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm on the scheduled day. In the event of inclement weather, the balloon test will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

The application materials are on file in the office of the Town of Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals and may be viewed there between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

VOORHEESVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING, BUDGET VOTE, AND ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT a public hearing of the qualified voters of

Voorheesville Central School District, County of Albany, State of New York will be held on May 8, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Library of the Clayton A. Bouton High School in said district for the presentation of a budget for the school year 2017-2018.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Annual District Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in the Voorheesville Middle School Foyer. The polls will open at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time and voting will proceed until 9:00 p.m. on the following:

1. To elect two members of the Board of Education for a 4-year term terminating June 30, 2021, to fill the vacancy created by the expiration of the terms of Cheryl L. Dozier, and C. James Coffin.

2. To vote on the Annual School Budget and the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimate of expenditures, and to authorize the levy of taxes for this purpose.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that at said Annual District Election and Budget Vote to be held on May 16, 2017, the following propositions will be submitted:

PROPOSITION #1: PURCHASE OF BUSES:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Voorheesville Central School District is hereby authorized to pay the cost of the purchase of school buses, including incidental expenses, at a maximum estimated cost of $230,000, and that said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District shall be issued.

PROPOSITION #2: CAPITAL RESERVE FUND:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves the following

proposition and directs that it be placed before the voters at the May 16, 2017 District meeting:

Shall the Board of Education be authorized to establish a capital reserve fund, designated as the Building Project Reserve Fund, in accordance with Education Law § 3651(1), for the purpose of paying the cost of future building projects, in a maximum amount not to exceed $2,000,000 to be raised by annual transfer of unexpended fund balances in the maximum amount of $500,000 per annum, for a probable term of ten (10) years, effective immediately and expiring June 30, 2026, provided that, pursuant to Education Law § 3651(3), no expenditure shall be made from such fund except upon authorization of the voters of the District for the purposes specified herein. 

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the text of the foresaid proposition may appear on the ballot labels in the following abbreviated form:

PROPOSITION

Voorheesville Middle School 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Clayton A. Bouton High School 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the district not later than the close of business on April 17, 2017. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the district, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the district, must state the name and residence of the candidate and must describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated including at least the length of the term of office and the name of the last incumbent.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a public hearing of the qualified voters of Voorheesville Central School District, County of Albany, State of New York will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Voorheesville Public Library for the presentation of the Public Library budget for the year 2017-2018.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that, as part of and contemporaneous with the Annual District Meeting, a vote will be held for the Voorheesville Public Library on the following:

1. To elect one member of the of the Library Board of Trustees for a term of five years ending on June 30, 2022 to fill the vacancy created by the expiration of the term of Janna Shillinglaw.
2. To vote on the annual Public Library budget and the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimate of expenditures, and to authorize the levy of taxes for this purpose.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that letters requesting application for absentee ballots may be received by the District Clerk not earlier than the thirtieth (30th) day nor later than the seventh (7th) day before the election. Requests should be addressed to:
