School vacation week programs: “Ologies” at the Albany Pine Bush

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission will be offering programs every day at the Discovery Center for the week of April 6 to 10.

“The theme for the week is ‘Pine Bush Ologies.’ We have programs scheduled for all ages with opportunities to explore the Pine Bush,” said Sara Poggi, environmental educator and public program coordinator, in a release from the commission.

“Each program includes a unique opportunity to learn about the globally rare, nationally significant, and locally distinct Albany Pine Bush while looking more closely at different fields of science,” said Education Program Director Erin Kinal.  Topics include ecology on Monday and a morning bird walk on Wednesday to learn about ornithology.

Programs are $3 per person or $5 per family (children under 5 years free). Pre-registration is required for all programs. The Discovery Center is located at 195 New Karner Road. To sign up for any of these programs, go online to and click on “Events Calendar” at the top of the page or call 456-0655.
