Welcome news for ‘Old Man Thunder’

To the Editor:

I was very happy to read that The Enterprise is returning to its home at 123 Maple Avenue.

While in high school in the early 1970s, myself and a number of my friends worked there after school. We broke down forms, made and hauled the ingots up to the Linotype machines, sorted furniture, took deliveries of the paper rolls, and a lot of other chores. We have a lot of good memories of that place.

Myself and one of my best friends were also responsible for carrying the forms down to the press, locking them in, filling the ink troughs, and changing paper rolls. Jim Pino was the one who ran it. I checked with my friend and we believe the press was actually nicknamed “Old Man Thunder.”

Anyway thank you for the good news and I would certainly appreciate it if you could say hi to Jim for me the next time you see him. Please tell him that I said to “get to work!.”
