How to vote by mail

To the Editor:

I have had some people ask about absentee ballots to use in case they are housebound, out of town etc. for the May 16 budget and Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education vote.

It is very simple to get an absentee ballot. You just call Denise Robinson, the clerk of the BKW Board, as soon as possible at (518) 872-5102. She will send you the application for an absentee ballot. Return it promptly.

The actual ballots will be ready to be mailed about April 21, after the board votes to approve the budget. Denise will mail your ballot to you then. Final step: Fill out your ballot and mail it back in the envelope which will be provided.

No one will know how you vote.  The sealed votes are opened and counted when the polls close.

I hope this helps.
